Here's some surprising news coming out of Cougar men's hoops Sunday. Seems that outstanding freshman Mouhamed Gueye is declaring himself eligible for the NBA Draft. It's likely that he's simply testing the waters and looking for insights from the pros on what elements of his game need improvement. Colton Clark of S/R had this quote from Gueye:
“I am staying in pursuit of my ultimate goal this spring while understanding that any feedback I receive through the process will make me an even better player in the future,” Gueye wrote in a social media post.
With this announcement, both of Coach Kyle Smith's starting forwards from last year's team have entered the NBA Draft pool. Though it's unlikely that Efe Abogidi will return to Pullman, chances are we'll see Gueye donning the crimson and gray once again next season.

Washington State junior Jacob McKeon was named the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
McKeon helped the Cougars to a 3-1 road trip last week after beating Seattle U Wednesday and a weekend series win at No. 10 Oregon. The Phoenix, native hit .529 (9-17) with three multiple-hit games, five extra-base hits, two doubles, three home runs, four runs scored, 10 RBI, and a 1.176 slugging percentage.
McKeon drove in four runs in the win at Seattle U and homered in all three games of the series win at Oregon, WSU's first series win in Eugene 2012, and their second road series win over a Top-10 team in the last three weeks after taking two of three at No. 9 Arizona two weekends ago. It's the first time in program history with two road series wins over Top-10 teams.
In Friday's series opener against the Ducks, McKeon collected two hits including a solo homer to left field. The right-handed hitter hit a two-run homer to centerfield in the first inning of Saturday's win and finished the game with a career-high four hits. McKeon closed the weekend with a two-run homer in the eighth inning of WSU's comeback win Sunday.
McKeon wins WSU's first Pac-12 weekly accolade of the season and the first since Kyle Manzardo and Zane Mills each earned awards twice last season.
Go Cougs!!!
